SANKARAMKUDAM SIVA TEMPLE,

ELAVANCHERY.

The ancient Sankaramkudam Siva Temple is located in the precipice of a hillock about one Kilometer away from Perungottukavu Bhagavathy Temple, at Kottayangad in Elavanchery Panchayat of Palakkad District. The management of Perungottukavu Devaswom administers both these temples. The sacred tradition and history of the temple had a great glorious past. Unfortunately, since long time the temple lacked attention and care in the vicissitudes of fast changing social, economic and various other factors.

But of recent we observe a sudden awakening of society to restore the pristine glory of temples and places of worship. Sankaramkudam Siva Temple also found no exception of this social renaissance. An Ashtamangala Devaprsna conducted here led by eminent Astrologer Brahmasree Kaimukku Mana Raman Somayajippad yielded direction to re-build the temple maintaining all its sanctity and re-install the deities to regain the glory and divinity for the welfare and prosperity of people, which was found to have lost due to long time negligence. Accordingly the task of renovation work of the temple was undertaken and completed.

The re-installation of the main deity Sankaramkudam Siva and associated deities Vinayaka, Nandi and installation of Subramanya along with related rituals like “Naveekarana Kalasa” was done simultaneously with ritualistic and a sanctified manner under the guidance of Thanthri Brahmasree Andaladi Mana Parameswaran Namboodirippad. Eleven days programme with exciting cultural events was arranged from 2011 May 6 to 16 in connection with the Naveekaranakalasa Festival (Kumbhabhishekam) The first Pradhishtadinamahotsavam is proposed to be celebrated on 2nd and 3rd of May 2012 (1187 Medam 19 and 20) in a befitting manner.Special offerings of poojas will be done with ritualistic and sanctified manner under the guidance of Thanthri Brahmasree Andalady Parameswaran Namboodiripad.
