SANKARAMKUDAM SIVA TEMPLE,

Kottayangad, Elavanchery,Palakkad Dt.,

This famous temple, considered to be amongst the most ancient in this place.  Though no historical records exist to indicaaate a precise date, an inscription found at this Temple in Vattezhuthu, an antiquated script, suggests that the sanctum sanctorum was built in the period before A.D.1500.   The deity is popularly referred to as Sankaramkudathappan. The temple’s 11 days Kumbhabhishekham Festival was celebrated  during 2011 May 6 to 16 with significant rituals and exciting cultural events.
